The Beaver program is for children between the ages of 5 and 7. It is based on the principles of cooperation, teamwork, and sharing. Our program develops and builds on these principles through crafts, games, music, and outdoor activities. The youth are encouraged to learn basic social skills and gain self-confidence.
Beavers B meet on a weekly basis at Sealy Hall in Waterdown (6:45 8:00 pm). A general meeting consists of the youth entering the hall and exchanging their dues for a woodchip, while parents sign them in and receive notices or other important information. The youth then head off to participate in a gathering activity, which could be something such as building a skyscraper out of cans to working as a team on a puzzle. Once the administration is done, the meeting begins river banks are called and the opening ceremony begins. This ceremony includes the feeding of Billy the Beaver his nightly snack of woodchips. Then the colony either works as a whole on the nights project/game or it separates into smaller groups called lodges to work on the activity. As the night draws to an end closing ceremonies are held, while parents sign their child out and the youth head home after a fun filled night.
