Welcome To Our Site

Welcome to the 3rd Waterdown Beaver Colony. We are an informal group of boys and leaders who meet to have FUN, work hard together and hopefully, become more sociable and better people. While we are operating the group with a minimum of discipline, and competition is avoided, there are some points we must insist upon and require your cooperatio

·         The Beavers should be in the gymnasium of Sealey Hall at 6:40p.m. (PLEASE -- not before!) so that the meeting can start sharply at 6:45 p.m. We ask that they wear running shoes at all times to ensure complete safety while running and playing – no sock feet!

·         Your Beaver should be accompanied to and from the meeting by an adult or responsible older brother or sister. Parents are asked to come into the hall and meet us each week. Please also ensure that your Beaver(s) is/are properly dressed and that he has not left anything behind. Occasionally depending on the activity and/or the behaviour we may run a little later than planned but parents are still asked to arrive promptly for 7:45 p.m.

·         The uniform consists of a hat, vest, and woggle (supplied by the parents) and a neckerchief & various badges  (supplied by the colony at investiture).  This ceremony will take place in November.  The uniform is to be kept clean and worn to every meeting.

·         Each week the Beavers are asked to "feed the Beaver" a loonie -- this money is used to buy craft supplies and the like.

·         Discipline and respect is a big part of the Beaver program.  Our leaders using natural consequences appropriate to the actions will address inappropriate behaviour. If one of our Beavers can not be managed by the leaders and/or becomes a disruption to the program then they may be asked to stay at home for the next meeting.

·         Your constructive criticism, suggestions and help are always welcome. Please do not be shy, if you have something to suggest please let us know.

·         We are looking for parents to volunteer their time on occasion for activities that may require increased supervision or if there is a situation where one of our leaders may be absent.  This will continue to ensure that our beavers have the maximum supervision to allow for a fun yet safe environment.  If we do not have the support of our parents during these times then we risk having to cancel our meetings on those given evenings

·         We have attached a “Beaver Pond Schedule of Events” for the year.  These ideas are subject to change and advance notice will be provided when possible.

·         Also enclosed is a package of permission forms for each activity that takes place during the year and away from Sealey Hall that must be signed and returned by the next meeting.  Some activities may have an extra fee involved – this will usually be due at a meeting one week in advance of the given activity.

Here’s to a great year!!!

Yours in Scouting,

3rd Waterdown Beaver Leaders
